It’s like a Victoria sponge with the jam missing
The planning system in England has all the bits we need, but the most vital ingredient is missing. The “jam” - the requirement to act on climate change in a measurable way - is absent.
The Climate Change Working Group’s letter to the Secretary of State Angela Rayner details what needs to happen so that we can build warm homes and stop wasting energy; build cheap renewable electricity that people can own and benefit from directly; and adapt to climate change through greening and protecting places from flooding and sea level rise.
Unless we can make climate action count, it will always be “jam tomorrow” for people and places.
